On Aug 7, following a week-long trip into the Battle Range, I climbed Mt Tupper in the Hermit Range by Rogers Pass (British Columbia). My partners were Michael and Lisa of Calgary who I met in Hermit Meadows the day before while hiking up to the Sifton-Rogers Col.
The Mountain - The left two shots are from the vicinity of the Sifton-Rogers col, the right one is from the ridge where the route first meets it.
Some Views - The left two show Tupper, MacDonald and Sir Donald (the highway is between Tupper and MacDonald); the right shot shows Sir Donald and Mt Bonney
Scrambling Up - Michael and Lisa scramble up the 4th class lower ridge
The Upper Parts - Shortly after a sloping chimney (left) we roped up (center, Michael preparing a belay). On the right is the summit block, finally!
Summit Block - left and right; and the basin behind Tupper towards Hermit.
Coming Down - A bit of scrambling (left), crossing above an avalanche track (center, berms to guide the flow over a snowshed are visible), on the right Michael completes a rappel with Sir Donald in the background
Some Rappel Shots - On the right Lisa rappels with Rogers in the background
Us - Me on the Summit with Sir Donald in the Background (left); Lisa and Michael after the descent; me again with my old "Euro-Yellow" fleece reflecting the sunset
Panoramas - The feature on the digital camera didn't work quite right this time so two of these are manually combined in photoshop (thus the discontinuities).
