As part of our June, 2001 trip to Smith Rock we set up an Assisted Rappel. This is a method which a guide or experienced leader can use to safely lower somebody two full rope lengths in one operation. It can be useful in the onset of bad weather, an injury, or just the onset of some acrophobia in a beginning climber. It is described in the Tech Tip guiding newsletter archive.
