Back to the main overall "organized trips" page
These are the archived web pages for the spring 2008 trip, including reports/summaries and photos. This was a bit different in that it used a basecamp and not a hut. It was originally labeled "Purity Range" even though we actually planned to be on the south side of those peaks, at or above the headwaters of Battle Brook. That headwaters area sees very little use and there is little information available on it. At the start of the trip we decided on Butters Lake instead due to the weather conditions and more reliable helicopter accessibility. The original destination is difficult to fly to without very good weather, which was not expected given either the forecast or the years trends for the spring season. We did get to a divide north of Mt Butters where we had a brief view between the clouds and mist into Battle Brook 4500' below. (Had we gone to the Battle Brook headwaters area we would probably not have flown out until Wednesday, four days late. Perhaps late Tuesday if we were lucky.)
