This is a view back across (down) Pfaffenferner and across the Otztal valley to the Otztal Alps. The highest peak to the right of center is Wildspitze, which I made a ski ascent of in May of 2000. The depression in the center of Pfaffenferner is where the icefall spills over and is heavily crevassed. I stayed well back to the left of it as I climbed to this point, but I still crossed one thin crack which hadn't been visible before I was over it.
