This view is of Wild Freiger (3413 m), a signifcant Stubai summit and a common objective, first climbed in 1865 (as were many of the key summits in the area). This was taken in the morning near the Muller Hut (3143 m), and the hut is visible in the left foreground. Because the viewers left side of the Ubeltalferner looks broken up under the blanket of snow of the surface I crossed down low (to the viewers right) and ascended the far side along the rocky edge. No matter what route one takes the descent after this summit is long and classic - up to 2000m in some directions.

The summit of Wild Freiger is the left end of the ridge, the right end is called Signalgipfel, 3392 m. My route was to ascend Signalgipfel, traverse the ridge to Wild Freiger, and then descend the snow directly to the glacier which I traversed the head of to my ski cache.
