This is the Wutenkarferner side of Wietenkarsattle, which I had to descend on the way to the Hochstubai hut and reclimb the next day to get to Daunjoch. It is steep enough to be blind from above and the snow was so thin it was saturated through and in places I broke through the snow into holes between rocks, even with skis on. I took the skis off to walk down and ended up heading straight towards the top of the right end of the small cliffs until I noticed glide cracks in the snow. Then I realized it was necessary to angle to the viewers right down a moderately steep slope which had very wet snow conditions and was tightly bounded by chunky debris from wet slides. But the slope isn't too long and I avoided the cliffs, and on the way back it wasn't so bad to climb up at an angle with skins on in the early morning.
