I found my way down through slopes with wet snow and glide cracks but few steep areas until I reached the Vogelhutten See which is fed by the end of the Ubeltalferner. At this point I was approaching the snowline and no longer following the ski touring routes marked on the map. There is a ski route down the far side of Ubertalferner which continues down behind the ice wall seen here, but it wasn't clear if it was skiable anymore and to get onto it would require crossing crevasses at this lower elevation.
